Piano questions
« on: December 19, 2007, 10:11:36 PM »
Finally have a piano (albeit a digital one) after years without.  I am planning on working up Debussy's Des pas sur la neige from the 1st book of preludes and Bach's Contrapuntus XIV (the canon at the tenth)

my questions
Pedaling on the Debussy - there are no pedal marks on the score, but I am assuming you pedal through the phrase marks, correct?

Does anyone know of a good score w/ fingerings for CP XIV?  I have the Dover edition which has no fingerings

Michelangeli keeps the mode nice and crisp with moderate pedalling, not mixing the harmonies.

I think there is many possibilities which are all great. I personally doesn´t see anything wrong in pedalling the whole way through a Debussy piece.  ;D Neither is it wrong to use no pedal at all. The only important thing is, that you make the decision from a valueable reason. The same with fingerings.
