Oh no!  :( I am very sorry to hear all that. Columbus, of course, has changed for the worse too; now it is cluttered with Menards and Circuit Cities and Sam's Clubs and all sorts of gaudy things that ought to stay in Greenwood. We southern Hoosiers may have been primitive tribal types, by the standards of latte-sipping contemporary society, but we sure had charm.

But I'm sure the Story Inn is still there, out in the middle of nowhere?

I think it's still there, but I haven't been out and about much lately. I go to school up in Crawfordsville, so I don't get home too much.

If God had any sense, he would live in Northern Italy or around the Southern Cape region of South Africa.

I can see Northern Italy, but why South Africa?

The southern cape is scenically gorgeous, has a mild climate and has outstanding culinary offerings. One of the most beautiful places on the planet, IMHO.

I see. My mother was there a few years ago and basically said the same things. But she also said very similar things about Vancouver! From our point of view here, though, I think Northern Italy also has more culture to offer and is fairly close to a number of very relevant places (when it comes to "classical music"). Plus, people speak Italian there, that's definitey a big plus!

The area around Vancouver is very nice, but the city itself is rather dull and the weather is miserable much of the year. In any case, no comparison to the Cape.

Well, in Südtirol/Alto Adige they speak German. I spent a week in Meran last summer and loved it there.

I know, I found that most people there speak both languages. That gives it a particular and interesting feel. It kind of looks like Austria (which it used to be), but the main language is Italian.

I think a drawback of the Cape region probably is that it appears to be rather dangerous because there are still a lot of racial tensions and enormous social differences. My mother told me that tourists really couldn't move around much without armed guards and all that. IIRC, it has been a few years since she told me about the trp.

That is true for the area around Jo'burg, but not the Cape. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there in 2005 and it was fine. We even rented a car and drove around on our own. Sure, you shouldn't go into the townships without a guide on your own, and there are some beaches you should avoid, but it's not like Jo'burg.

I once met Faye Dunaway at Anne-Sophie Mutter concert. She talked to me as said that she was being cast in a film called Duet for One. Apparently, Julie Andrews was picked to fill the role and the film was released about 1986/87.

If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be an apartment in Vancouver a few blocks from Stanley Park. What a beautiful place ... at least in the summer.  8)

How many places have you actually been to at your tender 18 years?

I forgot to mention that I once sat next to Charlize Theron in a bar in LA. I didn't find her that hot, though. In fact, I didn't recognize her for a while even though her friends talked with me and the friend I was there with for a while. I thought she looked rather plain in real life.

Heh. Most celebrities probably look quite normal in real life ... and most quite normal people would look fabulous under an inch of makeup and wearing a fantastically expensive dress or suit.  :D

Well, admittedly less than the average adult but probably more than the average person my age; excluding the United States, I have been to Canada (four provinces), Austria (Bregenz, Schruns), Germany (Hannover and a town just south of it whose name I've forgotten, Rothenburg, Frankfurt, Lohr-am-Main), Turkey twice (Istanbul only), Australia (every province/territory except South and Western), and Auckland, NZ. The only place other than Vancouver with which I've fallen instantly in love is, thankfully, my new hometown of San Antonio, TX.  :)

Mostly my love of a place is associated with the food. Vancouver's English Bay area has the incomparable Fish House, and Cairns has that unbelievable Thai restaurant on the ocean, and ... you get the idea.  ;)

That's pretty impressive.  I'd say you've already travelled more than the average adult in the U.S.

Perhaps she has one of those faces that it is said, 'The camera loves'.

Apparently, this year's concert will be webcast at this website: http://tvthek.orf.at/.

Oh, and if you are staying in Mongolia, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, or Trinidad, congratulations! The concert is to be telecast in those countries for the first time.

Me? I'll have to settle for the web thingy. >:(
