In the light that Blue Ray is probably going to win the HD battle, I took the opportunity to ask for two review players.
Will get them shortly..

Oh, I see. HiFi equipment.

(I was wondering what a Dutchman is doing talking baseball...)

71 dB

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

there used to be baseball team called "Toronto blue rays"/"Tampa Bay blue rays"?

That's the thing. The eye sees things and makes minor changes to meet the mind's expectation.

oh please, but seriously, I am a huge Football(soccer) fan too, but the lack of high scoring games is definitely not one of the more attractive aspects of football.

Here's something to read:
Part 1
Part 2

Both very interesting articles Poju.
I have a few remarks in the sideline about them.
Warner is a big player, and they embrace BR. Dreamworks is in the running also to do the same, and the porn industry has a liking towards BR. And that pretty much decides what will happen. As to the cost Sony has to recuperate, because of their heavy investments in this industry, and they are pretty hefty, I am talking about billions.....
The consumer has to pay all that, well not likely! They forget that people buy DVD at very low cost, and there is no chance that they suddenly will pay the prices for BR discs as asked. Forget it. It is a replacement for normal DVD's, and therefore the prices will drop to the same level. Otherwise they have no chances to survive.

Yes, that is indeed a issue, most irritating, but no doubt software wizards around the world will break this protection in no time....

Harry,

In the U.S. most people do not BUY DVDs, indiscriminately, as you purchase a copy of every cd pressed.

They only buy the DVDs which fit into their taste niches.
As an example the ONLY DVDs that I would purchase are those of complete orchestral concerts, specific solo performers playing music of specific composers, complete operas or complete ballets.

I would NEVER purchase DVDs of movies or other theatrical releases. Those categories are for renting from "Blockbuster" or "Hollywood Video".
"Good", is NOT good enough, when "better" is expected

No, no, no, Cuddles, you've got it all wrong, I certainly do not buy every cd release, pressed or otherwise.....
Are you seriously suggesting I would purchase Wagner, and all the other opera worthies?
And in movies I am even more discriminate, I buy maybe two or three films a month my dear fellow.
Rental places in Holland are really and utterly horror, back alley shops they are. :)
So nice to hear from you, I am sure.....

If you continue to call me "Cuddles, I will call you "ass hole". As I will call any other poster that calls me "Cuddles".
Too bad about the Rental Shops in Holland. In the U.S. they are clean, conveniently located, safe to shop at, and possess large inventories.

Thank you for your kind reply Cuddles, which is a honorary name by the way, and I call nobody else by this name, so...
Basically you are a fine human being, so don't spoil the fun will ya, and keep it friendly. :)
Feel free to call me whatever you want dear friend. Scolding does not hurt, especially coming from you.
Lash away Cuddles. ;D
