I've been doing some maintenance to my hard drive and discovered that, even though some time ago I said I would try to evade any new recording of those works I already know very good, I found this:

Brahms: Violin concerto - Joseph Krebbers/Hein Jordans (1957)
Brahms: Violin concerto - Erica Morini/George Szell (1952)
Brahms: Violin concerto - Menuhin/Boult
Brahms: Violin concerto - Kulenkampff/van Beinum
Brahms: Violin concerto - Neveu/Schmidt-Isserstedt (1948)
Brahms: Violin concerto - Vengerov/Barenboim

Only in my hard disk!

IF you think you have too many recordings, create your own recycling bin!

LOL. I know I have a live recording of Hahn playing the Brahms somewhere in my disk, I just don't know where it is.

You know Manuel I'd really love to help you but you  have to tell me what the problem is?  ??? ;D

  Currently on my hard disk:
Tristan und Isolde (Complete) - Bohm
Tristan und Isolde (Complete) - Furtwangler
Tristan und Isolde (Complete) - Reiner
Tristan und Isolde (Complete) DVD - Barenboim

Gee, Manuel, looks as if you could use a good contemporary recording in decent digital sound (I have the Vengerov and don't care that much for it).  The Hahn really is pretty good, but my current fave is Shaham/Abbado/BP--in fact, I think I'll put in on the disc spinner right now!

(Other digital recordings I have for comparison are:
Hahn Marriner
Kennedy   Tennstedt
Mullova Abbado
Mutter Masur
Vengerov Barenboim
Zehetmaier Dohnanyi)

I expect to be able to listen to them sometime... (And this also counts for the two Tchaikovsky Symphony sets I've just discovered in the HD, as well as the Busoni and the Smetana complete piano works sets).

I only listed what I have in the hard drive, more cds with both antique and digital recordings are in my room.

And... I just discovered a folder with the famous Heifetz/Reiner and other one with Gioconda de Vito.

I have videos with Shaham, Julia Fischer and Znaider.

Szeryng, Szigeti, Heifetz, Neveu, de Vito, Oistrakh, Grumiaux, Francescatti, Haendel, Thibaud... No, I don't think I actually have a DDD recording, other than Vengerov*

*Edit: and a lenghty Nadia Salerno-Sonnenberg.

Thibaud

This one is a funny one, old Jacques was eighty-something and his tone is very sharp... like when instead of hitting D you play something that is 0.65*D + 0.35*D#

Thibaud died in 1953, at 73.

You are right, he never was eighty-something.

Recording info:
Jacques Thibaud, Violin
Orchestre des Concerts Pasdeloup
Jean Fournet
Palais de Chaillot, Paris
January 18, 1953

Then I suppose he was 72 then.

Carlos, if you have already solved the audio problems with your PC look at the new Clip Quiz thread... there's  at least one work which seems to be very, very rare.

Carlos, this morning I remembered an old suggestion of you (perhaps in this board, maybe it was at TC), and listened to Turina's El poema de una sanluqueña. It's great, it's beautiful. Thanks a lot for the hint.

I share the same birthday with him - i.e. 27 September.

carlos

And I've a magnificent signed photo by him. ;D
