Easy answer is that he is simply as old as our ages combined.  You don't have to be a millionaire if you space it out. :)

Actually, I was able to aquire my collection within two years. Let me put it very bluntly: I have no wife and no children. This frees up all kinds of possibilities.  ;)

My last count was around 2,300. That was a few months back. I have added about 75 or so since.

You guys here who own thousand of cd's - do you think you will ever stop or reach saturation point? I even feel a bit overburdened with my 3 to 400. Now, I'm beginning to be less interested in classical & a bit more in rock, indie, hip hop, grunge - I listen to these on radio. I'm very analytical, can't help analysing classical, and with the other genres it's easier just to "go with the flow" and just experience the music as it is. I'm actually thinking of just collecting non-classical next year...

My pop/rock buying has slowed to a crawl. My classical could easily stop today and I'd have more than enough for the rest of my life. But then I like to hear different interpretations of works that I love, so it's never ending, especially with my growing interest in Historical Recordings.

I have no idea about how many CDs I have. I will count them this weekend...

I think I've pretty much reached my saturation point now or at least I thought I did until I kept finding more recordings that I want that I don't own. :) I think the best thing for me to do is not visit Amazon! :D

If I was a millionaire, wouldn't you think I would have better things to do than to talk to you guys here on GMG? Obviously, I would be getting ready to go see the Vienna Philharmonic or the Royal Concertgebouw. Duh!  ::) :P ;D

If you can count them during a weekend you have so few that it really doesn't matter.

I'm here as well - though my interest is more in filling out the worklists of composers I like, as well as exploring works written by associated (as in time, place and style) composers.

A couple of months living like a hermit might do. I have done it in the past a couple of times.  :D

Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

I have a counter in the software I use for cataloging, and that tells me every month the progress, I would say I have to many, a total of 24.688 CD'S :o

You are right!  :D

Moreover, the world will not change, I will not change at all, if I have 3,500 or if I only had 500 discs. I think I will not do any counting ...

Perhaps a database would be a more reasonable way to invest my time, but there are too many discs from the past and I have a reasonably good memory.

I have some administrative problems to solve here.

According to Kimi, I have 10 CDs.

I asked her to count my CDs and, as always, she counted to 10 and stopped. Mission accomplished!

Yeah but you always post late at night, after you've come back from the VPO and RCO concerts! ;D

To keep the misses happy, have her count your purchases as well. 8)
