Was this a studio group or a major RCA orchestra (Boston, Chicago, NBC) under a different name?

He has made hundreds of records conducting different orchestras. One was the Morton Gould Orchestra. "Which just as easily could have been Joe Smith's orchestra," he said. "The same players were hired to play for different conductors."

The only Morton Gould piece I know--because I've played it many times--is his "American Salute," based on "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."  It's always fun to play! :D

Note: The above article is dated 1994.  According to Wikipedia, Mr. Gould died on Feb. 21, 1996.

That is a fun piece. I have the Naxos recording of it with "American Ballads" and "Foster Gallery".

I also have this RCA "Fall River Legend" recording picturing a blood-spattered Lizzie Borden that perhaps deserves to appear in the "Worst CD Covers" thread:
