San Antone

I bought this, listened to it, then returned it:

First off, several of the songs he chose for this tour were not among my favorites, e.g. Hurricane, Isis, Blowing in the Wind, This Land is Your Land.  But even for the songs I liked, hearing them over and over in performances which were virtually the same grew tiresome over 14 discs.

If you must hear music from this tour, then I suggest the single disc recording that is available.

For Dylan completists only.

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

I pre-ordered this box set and it arrived yesterday:

This is the CD box set and not the vinyl. Every album (+ the bonus disc of b-sides) has been remastered (at Abbey Road Studios) and, from what I've heard so far, these remasters blow the early '00s ones away and also they sound much better than the Message in a Box set from the '90s. There's more presence, clarity, and a general liveliness to these remasters. This set was also quite cheap: $25 (incl. shipping) --- certainly too cheap to pass up.

Very cool, I may definitely need to pick this up....

Suzanne Vega: Solitude Standing

This one was recommended to me here and that recommendation seemed to have some endorsements so I went and bought it.
I have not listened to it yet but I will do so soon.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on these. I am not a huge fan but I did have more than a passing interest in his earlier work.
