Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Is Is [ep].
I'd previously bought a copy for a friend, but liked it so much I needed my own. Their second album, Show Your Bones, is not so well produced but still wonderful.

Slowdive: Just for a Day [album].
I got this for the bonus disc of their first EPs, which I originally had on vinyl back in the day (along with Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Pixies - those were the days). The album proper isn't as good. Apparently the follow-up Souvlaki is better, but I haven't heard it.

I've been re-immersing myself in the bands of that generation. I think Souvlaki is much better than Just for a Day, but I'm one of those cretins that thinks Pygmalion is their best album. :P Though, I think Lush is probably the best of that bunch — I've been listening to Split and really surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. Most of the bands I listened to before I started listening almost exclusively to classical music haven't fared nearly as well.

Glad to meet a fellow shoegazer (it makes sense we'd both like Sibelius 8) ). I was a big Lush fan back in the day, particularly their early stuff up to the Spooky album. Their first EP (self-titled? don't remember) is very raw, almost punky, but surprisingly strong.

Pygmalion is now on my list.

Did the Stones ever have their stuff put on the "gold" George?

Nope. There's some nice Japanese first pressings on CBS, but that's as fancy as they got.

They are a lot of fun Bruce.  I did not realize how much I missed having covers like these until I started buying records again.  Some of the backs and sleeves are neat as well.

I bought a hijab today, for the novelty. It was quite cheap (£4.50 inc postage). I am expecting a balaclava-like experience, but without the warming qualities. It should be good for future webcam trolling.

Lots of fun right now.  Though I would never leave my cds, I do enjoy that "sound" that I get from the vinyl.  It also allows me to explore some music that interests me that I have always found more to my taste on vinyl (some jazz, jazz soundtracks and other oddities).  Plus, it is just plain fun to throw on the vinyl.  I like the sound, the pops and cracks from time to time, looking at the covers, and even the smell of the old records.  Here is an article that really captured what I am trying to relay here David.  It is titled Drunk on Vinyl :

http://www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/708awsi/

In short, it is an experience for me to throw on the vinyl.  Probably like some that like Blue Ray discs or SACD or what have you.  I am at the point where I am almost past comparing vinyl with the sound of cds and instead just racking it up as a different listening experience altogether and saying I enjoy both for different reasons.  Summed: I do not have a camp when it come to those that argue over the two.  Another example would be my enjoyment of listening to an old tube Philco radio that my dad restored for me.  Listening to the ball game on it is totally different than tuning it in on the the tube.  Neither is really better IMO, just different and adds just one more layer to my enjoyment of tuning in.  Here is one very much like mine.  Neat stuff:

FWIW, I am still not through.  I hope to recreate my dad's system from the 60's that he had down the road.  Cost is an issue and so is finding the exact components in good condition.  Should be fun.
