And a quick stop at the used CD shop next to the place I got a haircut:

Not bad, I'm glad I got out of there when I did. ;D

You didn't have Revolver already?  :o  :o  :o  :o  (1 for each Beatle)  ;D

toledobass

Ha,  I've never had that many Beatles albums but Revolver is one that I've owned and somehow I also lost it.  I never really got around to getting it again.  I've got some pretty big gaps there so I'm trying to pick up an album here and there.  That bring me up to a whole 3 in the collection. :o ::) :-[

A Scanner Darkly is the best in that volume. The compilation you really need is Four Novels of the 1960s: The Man in the High Castle / The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch / Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? / Ubik

If you then add Radio Free Albemuth, you'll have his best novels. But it's all interesting stuff.

Good grief!  Hope I don't have nightmares over that one!  (Sort of like Babs Sings Strummer! or Mantovani Does Mahler!)

I think he took the 'Miles' to mean Miles Davis and imagined an unholy mix of Hyperborea and Kind of Blue.

DavidRoss should not stratosfear that. Nothing unholy as far as I know... ...nothing kind of hyperblue borea.

Given these interconnects a test drive. So far, they sound much better than my Radio Shack interconnects. Deeper bass and fuller, more balanced sound, the bright digital sound is gone!

Time to get myself a decent set of headphones.

These arrived on the front doorstep this morning  8)

More than decent!  You are in for a treat.  0:)  I also use mine with my television, and they reproduce sound effects so clearly that sometimes they sound like the real thing: the other night I jumped a little, thinking someone had opened the front door--it was only a door opening onscreen.  ;D

Hi Bruce;

I haven't been using 'cans' for several years, but used them a couple of nights ago and it was such a wonderful experience I decided it was time for a new set of headphones to get into it a bit more. I've heard about Sennheiser 'cans' for years but I've never owned a pair so I have high expectations  ;) The other pair I was using were so crappy I think I'll just drop them in the trash.

I'm looking forward to a special sonic experience tonight  :)

You will probably want to hear "everything you've ever heard all over again."  Truly, the sound quality of these 'phones is just magnificent--lots of depth and detail--and they are incredibly comfortable to wear: the right and left cups completely surround your ears, so there's nothing pressing against your outer ear (IMHO a common 'phones flaw).  And both the headpiece and ears are padded, the latter lined with velvet.  I have probably 5 or 6 sets of headphones, since I use them often, and these are without a doubt the stars.

Enjoy, and post what you used to "test them out"!   :D
