Nice. I got the 40th anniv Bitches Brew a few months ago and really love the package.  The extras are great.  Always interesting to be able to flesh out more of the history of a recording.

My Dad's birthday present finally arrived today, the Miles Davis Kind Of Blue 50th Anniversary Collector's Edition, and absolutely loved it!!! It's really a cool looking set.

I went out a little while and he left me a note on my desk:

John,

Just a note to tell you how much I appreciate the Miles Davis Kind Of Blue Collector's set. It is awesome, but not as awesome as you!

I love you son!!!

Thanks again.

Love, Dad

That Queen shirt is BEAST!

Thread duty:

All on vinyl and nothing ran me more than $1 each except for the Joe Loco platter.  For all of you "organ" cats, the Nightcaps album is performed by Dick Leibert using the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ at the Byrd Theater in Richmond Virginia. :D

and what collection is not complete without:

Will finally complete my Tarkovsky collection with Nostalghia. A real poetic beauty.

I love that set, too.  I've most certainly played "Kind of Blue" more than any other album I've ever owned.  I taped my first copy from an old LP from the library 30 years ago.  My father just turned 90. He doesn't much like Kind of Blue.  Thinks it's too modern and hip sounding.  Congrats on your cool and expressive father :)
It's all good...

Wow, someone who doesn't like Kind of Blue? I didn't think those people existed.  :o

Well, I am sure everyone here has an lp Grail story or want.  My first  when I broke back into vinyl was a Superman album I wore out as a kid on the Leo label.  My best friend dropped that into the radio room of my Colorado Skull Cave last Christmas and all seemed right with the universe.  However, when one grail quest is conquered, a new hole in the collection suddenly becomes apparent.   Once again my buddy came through again this year and BAM (BAM)!  Yup, THE ONE that I hoped for more than a Red Ryder bb gun.  Some great jazzy/loungey riffs in spots, but it's the cover that pushes it to the top.   For some reason it gives me that 3-D View Master-like feeling that is always welcomed.  Makes me smile!  Love to hear your quest stories as well.

Fruits of a trip to Barnes and Noble this afternoon.  There seem to be several versions of the Davis and Evans albums out there, with differing amounts of 'bonus" material; I've given the Amazon links to the issues I actually bought.
