Anyone paying attention to the NBA this year? There are some great teams (especially in the West)... who do you think we'll see in the Semis and Finals? I predict:

Dallas vs. Phoenix in the West,
Detroit vs. Cleveland in the East,
and Phoenix vs. Detroit in the Finals (with Phoenix taking it all).

If Chicago defeats the Pistons in Round 2, I think they'll defeat Cleveland but lose to Phoenix.

As long as Steve Nash stays healthy, I see the Suns winning the championship.

I'm surprised to see even a single other person here who doesn't hate and detest NBA basketball with a passion.

Anyway, I'm a lifelong Laker fan but we don't get that many games on cable here in Canuck-land. Fortunately we did see the Lakers-Suns game and I'm very pleased with the outcome to say the least. I still have my doubts that they can beat the Suns in this series but you never know. The problem here is that the Suns have so many offesive weapons--Stoudamire, Nash, Marion, Barbosa, Diaw, Bell can ALL burn you on any given night. With the Lakers, you have Kobe, usually Lamar, and maaayybe one other guy as offensive threats on a given night. The Lakers really need some other playoff veterans who can read the floor--Sam Cassell would be perfect, as would Kevin Garnett.

You're probably right about the Suns though. As much as I'd hate to see the Lakers lose, it would be interesting to watch a Mavericks-Suns series. The East? you gotta be kidding me  8)

Yes, Kobe led an incredible comeback last night (I started the thread during halftime, by the way); I still don't see them defeating the Suns in the series, however. I will always be a Bulls fan, but I would love to see the Suns take it all (and I think they will).

my hometeam is Orlando.......

go ahead and laugh  :P

don't care about NBA anymore, it's baseball season now.

My Pistons are doing well, I think they can go all the way this year (especially if they play the Suns in the finals).

Are the Warriors still in it?

Big changes in the NBA since last year! Any Celtics or Lakers fans here? I'll be watching tonight until the end, even though the games finish here on the east coast at around midnight and I have to get up early for work tomorrow.

Can't wait till the Celtics win the series. I guess you could call me a Celtics fan now, since the improvement from last season is definitely something that earns my respect.  8)

ah, so there's a game on tonight? Luckily, i'm off tomorrow, so i'll get to watch it. I've had that problem- wanting to finish watching a game, but knowing that i can since i have had to wake up at 4:30 the whole week.

Here in the Rocky Mountains, the game begins at 7PM.  I think the Lakers will win tonight and lose game 7.

I just finished watching repeat telecast. The Lakers were pathetic.

I wish I could've watched it. Instead, for some reason i felt extremely sick with a headache and stomachache that i went to bed at 8 and woke up at 7 (and it went away). So I missed it.  >:(

Just watched the highlights, and the score was 92 to 131!  :o
That's the second biggest blowout in Finals history, the biggest being Jazz vs. Bulls, which was 42 points, this one being 39.

Makes me really happy to see the Lakers lose and the Celtics win..... they're all cool, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and especially Doc Rivers since he was 'our' old coach.

The Lakers were extremely overrated. I find it hard to believe so many newspaper and network sports people were predicting a Laker sweep. Detroit would have beaten L.A., too, had they gotten by Boston.

I find it pretty hilarious that we recycled last year's basketball thread for this year's playoffs.  ;D

It's about as popular this year as it was last year, too.  ;)  I'll resurrect it again in 2009.  :)

I sure was wrong.  The Lakers really sucked - they just don't play tough.
