Today's the 76th.birthday of Igor Oistrakh, IMO a
great violinist in his own right, but eclipsed by
the international fame of his father. Now he's
an old man, but he had a formidable technique,
a fine sound, perfect intonation and a great
musicality. I treasure some of his recordings;
Rakov's first I prefer to David. Khatchaturian's
and Wieniawsky are as good as the best; had a
superb Tchaikovsky's trio, a splendid LvB complete
sonatas set. His Bruch's first with papa conducting
is my absolute favorite.
Happy birthday,Igor :D :D
Piantale a la leche hermano, que eso arruina el corazón! (from a tango's letter)
