I didn't really want this introduction message to get too involved in a deep debate - there will be plenty of time for that in other threads, no doubt! I really just wanted to say hello and explain how much I have been enjoying my humble beginnings in classical music.

Hi Daedalus, and welcome to GMG.  Very nice intro there!  Hope you enjoy yourself, and you'll find many more Mahler fans (like one right here  ;D).
