I'm totally depressed right now! ;) ;D It's obvious to everyone that I haven't had any lovin' in yeeeeeears :'(...
That's probably for the best, man. If you observe other people and really compare things, most people are better off by themselves (though not everyone).

Hello again Greg

a couple more questions

At elementary school -  imagine this as a continuum with one end (1) being the social butterfly with heaps of friends and the other end (10) being a loner - where would you place yourself on that continuum from 1 - 10?

Thinking back to elementary school reports how would your teachers rate/describe you?
Cheers

I tend to get depressed rather often... and don't just say that it is because I am a teenager....
Music and love are the only two things that comfort me... although the latter tends to be one that causes quite a few problems... although it can be the most wonderful of wonders... :)

(kind of similar to what the psychologist I went to asked)...
My teachers would probably mostly say I was quiet and well-behaved, but school simply varied from year to year. I would throw up wildly different numbers each year. During grades 3-5, I would give myself a 3, while during 1st grade, I'd give myself an 8.

Grades 3-5 were easily the best years of my life, and about 1 out of every 3 or 4 of my dreams involves friends that I was close to during that time. I was around friends constantly.

Right now, I have a ton of people I'd call friends, though I only get to hang out with a few regularly, and a couple more sporadically (and many have either moved or I've lost contact with them). I actually have to be careful sometimes to not spend so much time with them, since I need that time to work on my goals.

Hello Greg

Just a hunch (based on a couple of comments you made) that I don't think is really valid.

Is this season an adhoc one for depression?

Yeah, because it can remind you of how great it was to be a kid and how the whole year was a disappointment, just like the year before that, the one before that, etc.

That, plus Christmas music is extremely annoying.

Why, thank you Greg. For me, September was wonderful, October was horrible, but November and December have been absolutely delightful, and full of music, love and general happiness. :)

The music of Carl Nielsen is  so life-affirming , so filled with  optimism and  strength , it can't help but make
you feel better mentally .  Some one once said that Nielsen's music makes you want to hug  some one !  Right on target !

I hope he realises that it is three of those and then he is out. Certain mods might only permit two.

Well, it has been over a year since anyone has posted in this thread - thinking positive that that is a great thing!  :)

My depression and anxiety has turned around for the better over the past 6 months +.  A stretch before that of about 3 years being incredibly rough and difficult.  A lot of hard work, a lot of support, and determination have helped rejuvenate me.

On a downer note:  :'(

My ex-wife emailed me a few days ago, saying she is going through severe depression right now.  I was so disheartened and sad to hear her struggling with this.  :(

She also said: "I am so sorry Ray, I never really understood, or realized just exactly what you were going through, and now I do know.  I'm sorry I wasn't more supportive or sympathetic".  :(

I just told her that she did not need to apologize, and that I thought she was indeed very supportive, and did all she could to help me.  I gave her a lot of suggestions, and positive advice.  Offered to be an ear and support for her.

Although we have been separated for almost 2 years, I told her I still care very much for her, and want her to be happy and not suffering through this, and that I would do what I can to help and support her through this.

Going for a cup of coffee on Thursday so I can be an ear, somebody to talk to.

Don't let a bad day scare you.  I still have my rough days, but the more I live, and the more I learn the tricks and treachery of Depression, the more I see the signs, and scoff at it and make it impotent.  In the end, it doesn't stand a chance, and does not define me.  I will live, and live happy, and I will keep fighting.  :)

*Happy, positive thoughts to everyone*

Feelin' a wee bit old and bitter today. mm :(

I haven't exactly felt like this since, say, around 1983, when the grey future of Mutually Assured, and, uh, Reagan's America of the '80s was juust starting to take hold. I see nothing but a bankrupt future,... THIS IS 'The Golden AGe' right now. :'( Grab a dyin' bull by the horns!

I assume most of the people here have Careers and Lives and Believe the Future Is Ours. Who am I to argue? After all, the 'brass sky' of the Reagan 80s seemed to all but disappear by the time that one guy played sax on Arsenio. And now we have the best of both worlds: the 'Dark Skies' of Reagan with the 'Sad? Have a BlowJob' giddiness of Clinton.

The final third of this Pavlovian experiment seems like it's about to manifest. :blank: sigh

This Is Not America

Hmm, guess I should double check to see if I'm Ok to travel to the States.  ;D   Well, not funny, really.  :-X
