In a match still in progress, Arsenal forward Eduardo da Silva had his leg broken in horrific tackle (which did not appear to be malicious). It was so bad that SKY has refused to show a replay of it.

BUT, over in North London, Spurs fans are celebrating. Even on Spurs official BBS they were celebrating, and rooting for other players to have their career ended, without any moderators putting an end to it.

As an Arsenal supporter I never liked the spurs, but no strong dislike either. But having visited some of their forums I am totally disgusted.

Sports, even rivalries, aren't supposed to be like this.

I won't watch the rest of this match. I will pray for Eduardo.

First of all - do NOT post pictures of the tackle. I have seen them and they are fucking sick.

Second of all - you have to understand the very intense (and rather sickening) hostility which has existed for years between these two, and especially on the Tottenham side, of course, as they are nearly always on the losing side! I live close to either area and have visited local pubs of either supporters on game day and I can tell you that it gets really nasty in there (and very funny, it has to be said). English football fans are nothing short of amazing -- vile, racist, and very, very vengeful. They do sing well however.

I hope Eduardo plays again one day. The pictures of the injury make it look like his career could be over.

During an England/Tunisia match (sometime around 2000 or before) that we were allowed to watch during school hours, IIRC Alan Shearer tried a volley shot (in which he ended up almost upside down) which resulted in him clocking a Tunisian player in the face, and it elicited a cheer from the hall upon the slow motion replay. Like Sidoze says, English football fans are immensely over-competitive in general :D
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

The zillions of crazy fans are one of the reasons that my interest in football is rapidly decreasing. One can take only SO MUCH idiocy before one tires of it.

What amazed me was that, among the hundreds of posts there, there was not a single voice of reason. I have never encountered that in any EPL forums before.

Well, I will put this behind me.
