I didn't know about the recording. I'll check it out. I love Motian.

A strange heaven instead of the familiar hell.

The collaboration between Linda May Han Oh, Ambrose Akinmusire and Tyshawn Sorey is more than a trio. It is a sonic ecosystem where each participant speaks their own language yet listens intently to the others. Without a chordal instrument, they create a space in which silence resonates as powerfully as the notes themselves. Akinmusire plays as if the trumpet were the voice of memory: fragile, restless, yet astonishingly alive. Sorey does not merely "keep time"; he constructs the architecture of time, where each strike breathes like the earth itself. Linda May Han Oh guides the bass not downward but inward, drawing the listener deep into the music, deep into the idea.

This is a musical cosmos where vulnerability becomes a form of strength. The album does not seek to please. It offers an experience that lingers long after the final note. Not a style but a state of being.

New release on MPS? Most interesting.
Great label that I thought was defunct.
