Ever jealous of the amount and variety of concerts Mr. Hodges is able to attend?  I know I am and for that, my vote goes to NYC.

Allan

;)  OK, Allan, you force me to come clean: I go to about 100 concerts a year, but that's the main reason I live here.  If you want live music (and much of it is free), this is probably about as dense as it gets.

But Karl is right: the BSO (especially lately, with James Levine around) is worth moving for, and they have an acoustic temple of a hall, too.

I should take sharp exception to that remark, Bruce, only my density is already exceptionally well documented  ;D

Nonsense! Come to Ann Arbor, where not only do we attract the likes of Valery Gergiev and Riccardo Muti on a regular basis, but you also get the honor of seeing me, live in concert, at least six or seven times each year! ;D

ok, i put "1-5"...... although it's more like 0.5 a year, or less.
I HAVE to move to a city with a good orchestra, eventually. Which city would everyone recommend?

Hate to start an argument, but Chicago every time. World class orchestra, music every week during the Summer in the only free open air music festival in the USA (Grant Park), Ravinia too of course. Spoilt for choice.

Yep, go to any of those other places, Greg--we're already much too crowded here.

greg

with so many different opinions, maybe it'd be best to visit each city first.....
