I didn't watch The Oscars, but I'm sick and tired of celebrities using award shows as a platform to rant and rave about politics. Those who actually do something about anything are the ones that don't even feel compelled to speak about it as their actions do the talking for them. These celebrities live in a bubble that's so far removed from our society that when they do manage to get out of this bubble, they look at us as if we're aliens from another planet entirely. But this isn't anything we didn't know already.

10 years before Rosa Parks, Desmond, a Black woman, refused to leave the Whites-only ground floor seat in a Halifax movie theater (the balcony was reserved to the Blacks). She was arrested, detained and fined. The Province of Nova Scotia issued a posthumous apology and pardon...in 2010. At least this makes up for such a belated gesture.
