Thought I'd test out the new GMG .mp3-embedding system with the Chopin I already shared on the Yahoo account from past recitals (mistakes and all!). Hopefully more people will take the time to listen to fellow GMGers performing if all they have to do is hit the play button!

Preludes 13 and 24, Op. 28: [mp3=200,20,0,center]http://download138.mediafire.com/jgxvs20imtpg/1fkgztn2yqn/12+Preludes+Op.+28+No.+13+and+24.mp3[/mp3]

Nocturne in F minor, Op. 55/1: [mp3=200,20,0,center]http://download138.mediafire.com/gsjvh4ejzw3g/7bf0hmxzlty/04+Nocturne+in+F+minor%2C+Op.+55%2C+No.+1.mp3[/mp3]

Mr. Aquariuswb, i'm afraid that it is not possible to link mp3 files from mediafire to the embedded audio player, because mediafire does not offer direct downloads. You need a site that let's you host files that can be downloaded directly, that means no pop up menus, no click "download" signs, this is the only way this mp3 thing will work.

my suggestions to solve this problem:
fileden.com - i think it was Greta who first suggested it, this site should do the trick. Simply upload your files up there, and then link the mp3, that should work.

This is interesting -- I did, in fact, use the direct links to the .mp3 files (the URLs that I used ended with ".mp3," not "html"; I had to check the site sources for the filenames), and those embedded files were working for a while, but do not seem to be working any longer. And the files are still on mediafire... not quite sure what the problem is, but I imagine you are correct that mediafire is not the right medium, though for a different reason than the one you suggest.

I will try your suggestion:

Nocturne in F minor, Op. 55/1: [mp3=200,20,0,center]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/17/1357385/04%20Nocturne%20in%20F%20minor%2C%20Op.%2055%2C%20No.%201.mp3[/mp3]

Preludes 13 and 24, Op. 28: [mp3=200,20,0,center]http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/17/1357385/12%20Preludes%20Op.%2028%20No.%2013%20and%2024.mp3[/mp3]

perfect!

M forever

This isn't just me performing, but rather the whole (more or less) La Jolla Symphony, the community orchestra I play in in San Diego in my spare time. Although you can actually hear a little bit of M in some places because the recording engineer put the spotmic for the basses right in front of me.

It is Shostakovich' Festive Overture, recorded live last year in a concert conducted by the young and very talented conductor Sharon Lavery. Some rough spots here and there, but overall, I think the orchestra did quite well. It is not an easy piece.

Have just posted something on the gmgrecordings@yahoo.com but I´m not sure if I did it right. I just have the recording on a cd, but it took me long time to get it copied to the computer. And then again to the email. Its such a mess.

Just got some recording equipment and I've posted a Chopin Etude on gmgrecordings@yahoo.com. To access the file (less than 2 MB), go to http://mail.yahoo.com and sign in with username "GMGrecordings" and password "goodmusicguide"

Mikkel -- the files you posted did not work. Try converting them to mp3's and try again!
