Beethoven Quartets Op.95, 131, 132, 135 - Juilliard Qt. (RCA)   Legendary recordings that match the hype.  Odd that these have never been issued on CD.

I believe this may be the RCA Op. 131 on Testament:

The Vernon Handley recording of Gerhards Concerto for Orchestra on Argo.

edit It's not Vernon Handley, it's Norman del Mar with the BBCSO and coupled with Rawsthornes' 3rd Symphony. Sorry about that.

The Vernon Handley recording of Gerhards Concerto for Orchestra on Argo.

There was also an excellent recording by Dorati of Gerhard's Symphony No. 1 and Don Quixote Ballet Suite on EMI.

There was a charming Pini di Roma with Previtale and Santa Cecelia on Decca (late 50's)

Also Kubelik's 1959 (circa) Brahms cycle with the VPO.

For that matter, Maazel's 1970's Brahms cycle with Cleveland.

I don't know about the first but the others are not much which explains why they have never been reissued.

Technically, Decca's recordings for Kubelik and the VPO were below the standards that they were able to achieve from the sixties onwards.

I have the set of vinyl and I don't agree.  I'd love to hear it on CD (the Kubelik/VPO Dvorak from the same era that was released on Decca Legends sounds quite good to me).
