Look at the word shampoo, it tells you everything you need to know about it. It's a combination of the word sham and poo which literally means it's fake shit. For the previous 22 years of my life, I would rinse and repeat every day, even multiple times a day, and my hair was horrible, puffy, it wouldn't do anything I asked it to. Over the last few months, I stopped shampooing every day to every other day, and I noticed that my hair was improving, when I didn't shampoo it, it was great. Since then I began shampooing less and less and now my hair will even stay back on it's own! Why do people use shampoo? It's 1 big scam and specially poor girls waste hundreds of dollars a year on useless garbage. I would like to propose an experiment to everyone, stop using shampoo for a month and see what your hair is like. My month begins today :)

Not to rain on your promenade, but of course, the origin of the word is Hindi, champo.

I was obviously just making a joke, and not claiming it was the origin of the word...

I've been told by many professionals that shampooing everyday is not good for your hair. They have given ranges from once-every-other -day to once a week regardless of how many times you shower (with or without a cap on) in between.
I shampoo once every 2 or 3 days, and it takes two days to get back to being manageable -just before I shampoo again  ;D

My hair is all rumpled in the morning, so I have no choice but to shampoo daily .........

Hmm How can people get such mixed opinions? 1 said it was terrible,
another no real difference, and another a huge difference.

It may have a lot to do with the type of hair one has. I think shampoo dries out the hair, so for people with dry hair (such as mine) the less the better I guess, of if you are going to shampoo you may have to use some after treatment creams and lotions and such  :P

Mine is too it stands up and in all directions. I just wet it and then it goes down.

Everyone's hair gets oily at a different rate.  Mine has to be washed every other day.  A friend who rode the school bus with me needed to wash her hair twice a day.  By the time she rode home on the bus, her hair was full of grease even though she had washed it that same morning.

If you read the labels on the shampoo bottles, they will tell you what strength the shampoo is.

Is this the before and after photo of the woman who complained the most?  I certainly don't see what she complained about.

She looks like a mermaid to me in the after picture.

Maybe just use conditioner (without shampoo) in the morning ........

i have really thick hair, and to my detriment i have to shampoo daily. If i dont my hair is everywhere. And against water alone my hair stands in defiance holding its multi-pointed architecture that sleep has given it. But with the application of shampoo it loses the will to fight and then i can look decent.

So are we in agreement that shampoo's purpose is to wash oil out of the hair, and not necessarily to clean it? The first person I told this to, told me that my hair would be really stinky after a few days but I don't think it'll be the case.

Make sure that you take "before" and "after" pix ......... so we can see the results of your experiment ........  8)

The purpose of shampoo is to clean your hair of anything that made it dirty - including grease, sweat, dust or anything it has accumulated.
This presupposes that the dirt is water soluble, not something like oil-based paint.

shampoo is THE BIGGEST SCAM EVER.
I agree
absolute worst crap you can put on your hair.
Conditioners are EVEN WORSE.

But go to the hair salons, the VERY LATEST is all these shamms and conditioners in a  rainbow of colors.
ALL HARSH DAMAGING CHEMICALS
Yet women buy them by the 18 Wheeler loads.
Women are sooooo naive.
They also but *anti ageing creams* paying hundreds of $ for a  1 oz bottle.
Women are sooo vain

Back to shampoos.
absoute waste of money, as they ONLY DAMAGE YOUR hair.

Try natural glycerin bar soap from a  health foods, WF's company.
I wash every 2 or 3 days.
hair is better than ever.

The USA has thousands  of fraudulent type gimicks as part of its social fabric.
Like adding sugar on the raisins in rasin bran. Dumb and dumber.

Get this one *health insurance* :D
$500/month :o

Not for me it isn't.  My hair get oily very fast, and I need to shampoo every day when I shower.  I use a volumizing shampoo that costs about $25 but lasts six months.

Obviously, what's good for one individual isn't necessarily good for others.  But extremely negative general comments about shampoo are nonsense.

Although I agree with you about shampoo being a waste of $$$, on what little hair I have I use soap, to no apparent detriment.

But my real reason for this post is that I have come up with some measure of solution for you and Sean, who both appear so very discontent with your home countries. Why don't YOU move to England, and Sean can come over to New Orleans. He seems to prefer Third World cities anyway. And then perhaps you will both find happiness, or at least, something new to bitch about. :)
