OK, folks, I give up.  I absolutely, positively cannot identify a very familiar aria sung at Charles and Diana's wedding in 1981.  It was the Allelujah, but BY WHOM?  It has been rattling around my brain for lo these many years!  Do you have ANY idea how impossibly annoying that is?

It was by Mozart and the final section from his piece called Exsultate, jubilate.

Here is some information.

There are lots of good recordings around.

Here is one by one of the two singers from the wedding, Kiri te Kanawa.

The other was Arleen Auger. I don't recall which of them sang the piece.

I think I need a correction here. See this, Arleen Auger singing the piece, wrongly described as being the opening movement, but the main thing is that it is not at the Charles and Di wedding, but at Andrew and Fergie's.

Felicity Lott sang at some wedding or other, but I have not tracked it down. Kiri te Kanawa did sing for C&D.

Sorry about that. Royal weddings are a long way from being my chosen subject.

We pardon you...  ;) Felicity Lott sang at the wedding of HRH Prince Andrew in 1986, btw.

And I'm pretty sure Dame Kiri sang Handel's Let the bright Seraphim at Charles and Di's wedding.
