Yes, I listened a bit to it in the store the other day and it sounds gorgeous! Great sound, wonderful color and detail from the orchestra. I was quite miffed that I missed the opportunity to hear this combination live when Haitink was in Frankfurt with the SK Dresden.

A 2003 of little distinction.

I don't agree at all, I bought it on release a month ago and the Sk. Dresden sounds marvelous as usual and Haitink seems less distant than he sometimes can be. It's preferable to Jochum's 6th with the same orchestra on EMI to me atm, although it'll take a while to see if that's just the bias of being so blown away by this disc...

Not heard it but I'll probably check it out. If its anything like his 4th with the WP I just got (glossy and thin) I'm ready to be totally underwhelmed.

I heard the #7 he gave with the SD at the 2004 Proms, and "underwhelming" would be doing it a favour.  A shame.  In the right hands, the SD are a superb Bruckner ensemble:  equal to, though different in character from, the Concertgebouw.

Coincidentally, the 7th he gave here last month with the CSO was similarly underwhelming.
