The Hagen Quartet version is stunning & competes for my favour with the Juilliard version that used to be on CBS. Then come the Busch, but they might move up if I were to hear the new EMI re-mastering. I must admit to not having heard the Berg - if it's like their early work for Telefunken then I'd like it, but they became too prissy for my taste.
The Violin's Obstinacy

It needs to return to this one note,
not a tune and not a key
but the sound of self it must depart from,
a journey lengthily to go
in a vein it knows will cripple it.
