Bach: Well-Tempered Clavier

Nice instruments -- a harpsichord (I think, it is most unusual!)  and a clavichord -- sweet and lyrical playing. This on the basis of a couple of sneaky peaks on Spotify.

I'm enjoying this very much. Special instrument - German harpsichord with amazing colours - and expressive imaginative playing.

Enjoying it slightly less this morning - all the embellishment seems intrusive. One difference is that I'm listening now on big speakers where you can hear everything!

Modern piano, but Erin Hales claims to be historically informed by ideas about keyboard interpretation in Rameau and Emanuel Bach. I think piano people and people with relaxed flexible open minds wouldn't mind giving some time to this.

I like the piano versions of the WTC, and I feel my mind becoming less and less open. Maybe it's age, or wine, or Iranian drones — or all of it together.

I like this. I'm always listening to dynamics and flexible agocics first. There's a magical something in the greats: a naturalness that must be felt. I wonder what kind of piano it is. Or maybe it's the room. Perhaps it's slightly treble-y. I like the touch though.
