I have no idea about Herman. But it is constantly surprising to observe mild people behind the wheel of a car. Like Jekyll and Hyde. I have the feeling that similar transformations overtake some people when they get their fingers on a keyboard.

I know who it is now, thanks to a fellow member. And yes - he is a writer with 5 novels to his name. I have never read him, but his books have been well received.

I've met him and he's very charming, obviously erudite and kind. I also have one of his books though for one reason or another can't quite make it past the picture on the cover. He didn't want his full name known around here so I hope people don't mention it. Anyway he is missed. You can see him post on rmcr sometimes.

Are you Dutch, then?!

Well, I am J.Z. Herrenberg (story appearing in the Flemish magazine De Brakke Hond as we speak) and am not ashamed to let the world know...

No PM Yet.... ;D

Hahahaha!!

I know of two people here so far who know, and if they don't tell me they are going on my shit list.

Unless they are sworn to secrecy of course.  ::)

Oh, I guess if I've never heard of him, I don't really care.  ;D

Trust me, Dave, he isn't world-famous, no Dutch writer is (yet). But his surname is the same as one of my favourite American poets.

Apollo, Surely being godlike an'all, you really ought to be able to intuit who it is.

The getting of wisdom....but really, I don't think we ought to be training you in your godhead. Is there not a course or a workshop you can get onto?

...he was also the most seriously unpleasant and bullying poster we have ever had here ...

Really? Worse than ____?

knight66

Really, worse than anyone we have ever had here.

I like the picky, I assume you were taking the photo. I see they start early with aspiring gods these days. I hope the SATs tests go well.

Yes, he was everything you say, and perhaps a tad more. No matter, I liked him. I guess I have an affinity for the more prickly amongst us. With only a few exceptions, they seem to turn out to be good posters by and large*. My choice would be to help them to stay out of trouble. Sometimes it actually works  :-\

* Not to say that many really nice people aren't great posters too, or that some (_!_)'s are no more than that... ;)

Yes, really.  He was one of the jerks who egged poor Michel on to some of his most shameless behavior.  Herman is one of those somewhat brighter than average yahoos who confuses his modest intellectual advantage with genius and thinks it gives him license to treat others badly.  I ran afoul of him when he posted an unbelievably snide and hateful response to the first post of a newbie from Spain, attacking him as ignorant and ridiculing his imperfect English.  I responded immediately, calling Herman on his rudeness and apologizing to the newbie, but the damage was done and the offended newbie didn't return.  Herman reacted by editing his post so it seemed innocent (a tactic he often employed) and then attacking me and starting an insidious trolling campaign against me.  Yes, he had the capacity to contribute much of value, but he was a viciously nasty piece of work who made our rudest posters here today (including ___) seem gracious by comparison, and his apparently pathological inability to conduct himself civilly eventually got him banned.

Yes, I had forgotten all about the edited posts and the subsequent, 'What me gov?' nonsense. I ended up having to quote his posts to stop it happening when I was criticising his input.

Anyway, I am starting to feel like I am criticising the dead, so that's it from me....for now.

I miss Larry Rinkel.

Is Sfz really Larry?

Nah.  ;D

Again, this is the sort of thing you really ought to know. Of course Larry is not Sfz, he would be furious that you might think so.  0:)
