Similar to James' game - here are clips from works composed during the period of 1990-1999, guess who and what they might be.  ;)

Post below or by PM!

10 clips, each ~1 min in length. Found here:

Well, I'm pretty useless here. All I can say is that 10 isn't Shaker Loops!

Clip 10 is Adams' Lollapalooza (compare the rhythm of the word and the rhythm of the music and that gives it away).

8 is Lindberg's Cello Concerto, I think.

7 is Turnage, but I can't remember which work offhand.

No 5: Norgard's Concerto in due tempi?

No 1: Reich's Triple Quartet.

Is no 9 Rautavaara? I don't know the piece, but it sounds like it could be by him.

Great job all!  :D

That leaves up for grabs, #2, #4, #6.

All from concertos. One American, one Asian, one European. ;)

Okay, a few more clues...  :)

#2 is from an angsty American composer who had a Requiem premiered last year. This passage is from an elegy.

#4 is from a colorful Asian composer born in the 50s.

#6 is from a very famous Eastern European composer. This concerto was written for a German female violinist.

No. 6 obviously has got to be Penderecki's 2nd VC. I've never heard it but then his composing style is self-replicating... :-\

No more guesses for #2 and #4?  ;)

#2 was from the 3rd mvmt, "Elegia" of Christopher Rouse's Flute Concerto

#4 is the opening of Takashi Yoshimatsu's Saxophone Concerto 'Cyber-Bird'

1. Steve Reich - Triple Quartet (1998)
2. Christopher Rouse - Flute Concerto (1993)
3. Witold Lutoslawski - Symphony No. 4 (1993)
4. Takashi Yoshimatsu - Saxophone Concerto 'Cyber-Bird' (1998)
5. Per Norgaard - Concerto in Due Tempi (1994-95)
6. Krysyzstof Penderecki - Violin Concerto No. 2 'Metamorphosen' (1992-95)
7. Mark-Anthony Turnage - Momentum (1991)
8. Magnus Lindberg - Cello Concerto (1999)
9. Einojuhani Rautavaara - Symphony No. 8 'The Journey' (1999)
