Because I don't want to have the same end as Franz Schubert.

Okay.  Abstinence will make you a stronger person.

For shame!   $:)

I detailed the dangers of peony-and-petunia-pumping above: and why would Mr. Mozart want to become an idiot?

Yes, you did detail those dangers.  But I was also around back then and don't see it your way.

I always did.  You're bringing back for me some very fond memories. 8)

Im sure those fond memories come back to you along with the warts.

there is nothing shocking about it, i think it's pretty much the same for every college in the states, (worse for party schools), but i don't think it's nearly this bad in some of the  more serious/studious colleges.

My neighbours are constantly either slamming nails into wood, mowing the lawn on Sunday's at 8am or pottering tuning their cars and letting their kids use my back fence as football posts.

That's why I crank up the volume to window shattering levels, shove my head out the window and ask them...what next "Bernstein or Klemperer...your choice".

In the Summer when they have BBQ's and listen to their Pop Music, the volume goes even higher from my house, and on with the sonic G Force, they can't beat me for volume so they should join me.

Or F*** em, says me  ;D

Sorry to disappoint you, but age hasn't anything to do with it: everybody of any age is an idiot... ;D

It's just that you're noticing for the first time! 8)

It seems college (or in my case - university) is the moment one usually notices that a vast majority of people is not as intelligent as the most intelligent part (necessarily a minority, otherwise they wouldn't be the "most intelligent")... ;D

Many of the people I come into contact with at school aren't so much idiots but just frightfully annoying. My annoyance stems mainly from their contentment with walking through life completely oblivious to everything that isn't forced at them by the media. They seem to neglect anything that could be seen as 'intellectual' or even anything that is remotely different.

Well, at least there's some excitement to be found..

At the University of Chicago, well, fun is left for the summer holidays.
