"I knew nothing about the phone-hacking."

Meh, doesn't look as evil and asshole-ish enough.

"Down with the middle class."

(hey, this is fun)  :D

"Poor people are good for the economy."

Better stop this soon  ::)

Are there no prisons?  Are there no workhouses? ;D

^ Unreasonably proud of myself for getting that reference.  8)

Okay, now I just have to know what you are referring to, David....  :-[

DavidW

Scrooge from A Christmas Carol. ;D

PaulR

I think I enjoy cooking more than I think.

I felt like crap (mentally) before I cooked, then now after, I feel a lot happier.  (even though I am a little worried about undercooking the chicken  :-X )

But all in all, in good spirits now, even if it was just a coincidence that I feel better now :)

This is the one reason I have for being unable to sautée a whole chicken breast. It's supposed to be super simple - super simple to give yourself food poisoning :P

But indeedie, everybody should make a point to learn basic cooking skills - it is fun, healthy and self-improving.
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

DavidW

Just buy a cooking thermometer.  When the chicken reaches 160-170, it's done.  If you overcook meat to make sure that its done, it will taste dry and bland and you won't want to cook in the future.

Apparently there is a new term, "homoskeptic", which as far as I can tell means a climate change skeptic who also thinks that gay people are bad.

Nothing about that even makes any sense...  ???

I watched that one show on the Science Channel about entanglement. Don't know why I haven't heard about this 6 or 7 years ago, but I didn't even know that they've figured out how to teleport an atom. They need to eventually work on teleporting a grain of rice, so people could actually see something visually get teleported- though I bet they would need like $10 billion of equipment just to do that.  ::)

If they ever figured out how to teleport people, don't step onto the teleport pad by a scientist with purple hair named Lucca...  8)

To misquote Marge Simpson: "Quantum physics is none of my business."

Fun read- Kim Jong Il's NBA obsession:

His own system of scoring:
Quote
Chinese media have reported that the country even developed its own scoring system, with three points for a dunk, four points for a three-pointer that does not touch the rim and eight points for a basket scored in the final three seconds. Miss a free throw, and it's minus one.
He also wanted to meet Michael Jordan, but MJ declined for obvious reasons...

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?

DavidW

We really need to pin this chat thread! ;D ;D

So where I live we have not had much rain in months, and right now as I type it is 109 degrees Fahrenheit outside (that's about 43 C) and the high today is supposed to be 111 F (or 44 C)! :o  Anyone else suffering with the heat?

The drought and heat wave is so bad here in OK and TX that it has made the national news.  Grass and trees are dieing.  Lakes and rivers are drying up.  We've had over 30 days of triple digit highs.

My parents told me they are watering the house so the foundation doesn't crack.
