Your favorite Rolex?

Watch wisdom states that when you are new the world of watches, you think Rolexes are cool and want one. When you gain some sophistication in the watch world, you learn of many other brands, and esoteric offerings that price up into the seven figure range, and you think Rolex is a boring brand for posers. Then, when you learn a lot about watches, you realize that the brand offers a nearly unbeatable combination of quality, precision, toughness, style, and value.

What is your favorite Rolex? For me, the Milgauss wins out, with the plain old Datejust (no gemstones!!!) as a close second. I do not need to dive to the depths of the ocean, race Ferraris or my yacht. But as a scientist, I do work around instruments that put out some pretty high magnetic fields. I love the style and utility of the Milgauss. Like the Milgauss, the Datejust is a classic design that can be worn while dining with the 0.1% overlord destroyers of the planet at Le Plutocrat, just as well as a day at the beach, or a greuling day hiking off trail. (My least favorite model has to be the Yacht Monkey.)
