Wow, lots of Dostoyevsky fans here. Thanks for your replies. Given my destination, time of visit, and lack of time, I think I will find White Nights and try that first. And, I may re-read Crime and Punishment (I'll have plenty of time in various airports and in the air!    ) Maybe after I return I'll dig up this thread and post photos of the various sites I visited.

BTW, have any of you read Native Son by Richard Wright? I read this in high school and I always felt it was loosely based on / inspired by Crime and Punishment, even though there are some obvious major differences.
