That's just the type of music I can't tolerate - extremely sappy without any backbone.  And what's with that female behind the pianist trying to look like she knows how to dance?

I just watched 10 seconds of this and nearly vomited all over my monitor and died. Can I sue you for attempted homicide?

"No backbone." Hehe, I like that description.... one of the things I look for in music.

Chencho - first, welcome to the GMG Forum -  :D

Second, I hope that your appreciation of classical music will improve and be expanded by participation here!  ;) ;D

RC has come up before (been a while) - basically, 'new age' BS!  :P  You will not get much support here from this type of piano playing, as already observed - sorry -  ::)

But, stick around & let's know what your interests may be?  Plenty of great piano music on this planet to enjoy - welcome, again -  :)

"Ballade for Adeline" has been trotted out for kiddie recitals and competitions more than I can count for the past 25 years. I just sigh as a teacher and let the kids play, hoping their enthusiasm will be a stepping stone to much better popular compositions. I withheld my opinion when a student went to one of Clayderman's sound and light shows many years ago and came back glowing, saying it was"fantastic".

The piece itself, badly conceived and arranged, doesn't even approach a ballad (if there are supposed to be words, contrasted to pop music with interesting harmonies and sensible voice leadings. How this piece of nothing became such a magnetic money maker is a mystery, except if you take the props away, the dancing, the changing lights and fancy outfits, it would be the Wizard of Oz with the plug pulled out.

OMG!!!  And that's the best selling pianist in Europe, or the world if you believe the ads.

Btw, if anyone else needs to give back lunch, there are also Yanni videos around.

I. Can't. Stop. Watching.

It's like a car wreck. It's piano music, but I must figure out how someone can make something sound so horribly wrong. I feel like punching the guy in the face. But that's my fault- you have a choice to not look at an accident scene, don't you?.........

RC is not music. I sincerely hope the initial posting was meant as a joke.

How does it get a million views and an average rating of 5 stars out of 1,189 ratings?
Because people in general doesn't want music. They want mindless entertainment. As mindless entertainment RC rates highly.

Or maybe it's just us. Maybe we have to lower our musical IQs to enjoy this stuff.
