Ok,never likes these things but here we go:

Living in Sweden, countryside not far from Stockholm, in my early forties, collecting and listening to classical music since early teens, favorizes late romantics from Berlioz up til 1920s, but also quite familiar with modern music from previous involvement in the business. Fancy myself as knowing in the area of British music, my motto: never a day without Finzi!

You'll find many people here with similar tastes. Finzi's an interesting choice for a niche favourite (we all have them:-); I quite like him, although I'm still unfamiliar with many of his works.

Thank you!

If you would like to deep into Finzi I recommend the Celloconcerto with Wallfisch or the Eclogue with Shelley (could be hard to get though), wonderful pieces for autumn...

Don't apologise, my young friend, it was an easy mistake to make. Both are of the same stature - physically, that is (whether symphonically is a decision for this century...)  ;)

Greetings, SE pipesmoker etc (interesting name, by the way).  A Finzi fan here, too (although every day...maybe not  ;D).  I especially like his choral music.  Anyway, welcome!

Hi and welcome!

I am not Swedish, nor do I live in Sweden...however, I visit Sweden about three times a year. (I live in Scotland). A Scottish friend of mine has worked in Stockholm for over ten years now-he currently lives in the Stockholm suburb of Bromma. Know the Stockholm area quite well therefore. Notoriously almost got completely lost in the Tyresta National Park a few years ago and did succeed in twisting my ankle there in February.

I do love your country and have been up north too-Umea, Gallivare-en route to northern Norway. Lot of forests though and nasty mosquitos in summer! Heading to Sweden again in three weeks time and flying from Stockholm to Tromso.

Also love Swedish music. There's a good thread on Scandinavian music in the Composer Discussion Forum.

Anyway-as I said-welcome to the site!

Welcome to the forum. I am not Swedish but my wife's brother and his family live in Stockholm. I am an occasional pipe smoker however ( i think that it makes me look very intellectual  ;D) I too like many swedish composers, Peterson-Berger, Atterberg, Rosenberg etc.
