Hi,

the german media are performing a hype exclusively around Barack Hussein Obama. OK, it may be about political correctness here, but is it also in the rest of Europe or the rest of the world, that McCain does not exist in the media?

TIA

Rather that Europens in general are extremely tired of Republican silliness and are hoping for what they perceive as something better (not that they neccessarily will be getting it of course).

Obama is selling himself as a new, black JFK. That makes for a good story.

McCain's Nam memories don't.

I don't think political correctness enters into it. Obama's just the better product.

Obama has star quality, his rival does not. That counts in mainland  Europe where Obama was fated like a movie star. In the UK his official visit was very restricted and there were none of the crowd opportunities allowed in France and Germany. Here I think the government was more cautious in that they ensured exactly the same treatment of both candidates when they visited. A matter of not wanting to seem partial, as they will have to work well with whoever gets in.

Even if the US government was regarded as good; people get a taste for change. In the UK, bad luck has combined with bad judgement for Labour. But even if things were going somewhat better, the people are sick of the administration and would likely throw them out when the opportunity arises. They do say a change is as good as a rest, not sure about that, but people get restless for change.
