This saga started around May 22, 2008 - I attended a concert in May and felt like a contortionist - the location was in the balcony and behind a railing - my knees were against the rails.  Talk about "limited space".

To keep a long story short, I contacted "the powers who be" at Carnegie Hall and sent them a copy of the ticket stub.  They in turn said to select a concert from the upcoming season and they would send me tickets to make up for my inconvenience.  I did email them with my request and on June 16th received a notice that the tickets were being sent out.  It is now July 15th and no tickets.  I've been in touch with them again and the same message, "tickets are in the mail".  Even if they were sent by Pony Express it seems I would have them by now.

It is for an Argerich Concert in October - I know there is time, but somehow I think they are playing games.  My friends have faith that the tickets will come sooner or later.  Has anyone on this forum had an similar experience?   :) ???

Uhhh, no.

If Carnegie Halls the tickets are in the mail (it may or may not be) it will come. Organizations like them and the NYPO and the MET aren't there to screw you, unlike the Mets, Yankees or Giants or Jets. So your friend is right.

I would agree. I have never experienced anything other than professional service from the folks at Carnegie. If nothing happens by mid-August, try a letter to the box office.

I went to see a concert two weeks ago at Carnegie.  It was horrible.  It was a bunch of old people.  First of all they kept clapping after each movement even though it said not to do it in the program.  Then the coughing/sneezing started.  Then as if it was set up, everybody's phones started ringing with the most annoying cheesiest ringtone.  What's surprising, is that nobody bothered to turn them off.  Not after hearing other' go off!  UGH!

That's probably the norm. Tickets are outrageously expensive and you don't usually see the young student crowd like at Avery Fischer Hall or other performing arts centers around the City. So you get a bunch of old retired people who don't know ditto squad about music and who go because it's "Carnegie Hall" and there is usually some so-called big name out of town and better yet out of the continent orchestra playing there with an over-the-hill conductor. My wife's boss has a subscription at Carnegie Hall with his friends, he doesn't know Mozart from Mahler and he admits it. But he goes because someone in his position is supposed to be "cultured". So that's the kind of crowd you get.

It was a chamber concert.  solo piano transcription of Beethoven's 9th, Carmen Suite for flute, umm Some beethoven sonata.  etc.
