I was under the mistaken impression that you yet had to complete your collection, but given this information, you are already fully equipped dude!
I would prefer the 60's Tchaikovsky from Karajan, but really the 70's is awesome too.
And let me add to your already overflowing Mahler discography, by mentioning Inbal and Neumann too, especially Neumann, he is a Mahler experience out of this world altogether. It is a experience rather out of the main road, but will add greatly to you understanding the genius of Mahler. I was also happily surprised by the fact that you have Edo de Waart, would that be the fourth with Elly Ameling?

I got de waart's 2,4,5 and 9 and it was charlotte margiono instead of elly ameling...........Anyway....i think ameling's version is also lovely too, isn't it?

Welcome aboard! You seem to have an excellent roster of composers, and recordings, if your Tchaikovsky and Mahler are of any indication.

Be quite certain you'll be expanding both soon. ;)

lol.....i wish i could have some more........but just wonder if i have time to digest them .....

hi there....it seems to me you are an expert of these 2 composers.......recently i am trying to expand my collections to beethoven...particularly symphony 7...so far i have got abbado, karajan, kleiber and solti's version of that......any more good choices?

My favorite Beethoven symphony is #3, the Eroica, but to be honest with you I really couldn't suggest which conductor has the best performance of this or any Beethoven work. The reason for this is that 98% of my Beethoven cd collection is conducted by my favorite conductor Herbert von Karajan. You will find that there are others here who would suggest other conductor's performances but I have been a von Karajan fan since I received the first two editions of the Deutsche Grammophon Beethoven Bicentennial album collection back in 1970 (photo below). Since then the majority of my classical music collection is conducted by von Karajan.

no worry......karajan's hardcore fan......i believe every person should have their own favourites.......whether or not we regard a performance as the best is simply a "point of view" question.....which i think is rather pointless to argue with.......
