Recently, a new petrol sign was put up next to a motorway near me. I actually find the design quite alarming for a fuel station.

Absolutely! The pump seems to have a gun to its head, causing the ring of explosion!

Two days ago, Zelensky and NATO chief Rutte were in Odesa. This internet photo was taken at the spot where an explosives-laden drone hit a private house in one of the city's districts.

I've dropped the hammer on people before, and would have no problem shooting that warmongering maniac right in the face. ( Though it's been a long time, I last fired a weapon in the 1970's. )

Keep the faith, AnotherSpin. Though the current American president is an embarrassment, most of Europe is on the side of Ukraine. There will be assistance coming, though at a lower level than what it should be.

Ok, understood. It's no secret how strongly I feel regarding that particular... individual. But, I also agree that standards are in place for a reason, and I have no problem with the edit.  8)

The Oregon Military Museum reopened last month after almost two decades of closure, so I had to mosey on over.  As expected, a variety of well-maintained and restored weapons and artifacts are on display, including five tanks in the parking lot.  A bronze Spanish cannon seized during the SpanAm War (as a guide described it) is in a prominent location because the cannon was forged in 1776.  In the small arms display, an assortment of firearms from the colonial period up through the GWOT are on display.  One thing that caught my eye, as it sat in the lower right corner of the display closest to the back wall, was the attached.  It is a Sauer Model 38H with a prototype laser sight.  What makes this handgun remarkable is the owner: this was requisitioned from the private residence of Heinrich Himmler.  To the victor go the spoils.

I know this wasn't your point, but: I find comedian portrait photography a gold mine of horrible ideas. Every comedian and/or photographer thinks the picture has to look funny, with often disastrous results. Seeing so many "funny" poses on one poster - yelling faces, shocked faces, raised eyebrows, finger pointing - is something special.

This is still probably the most impressive skateboard trick ever done (on the streets):

I don't know if it's a sign of reaching senior citizen status, but I'm obviously out of touch with contemporary comedy. I can't name a single person in that poster--even the four or five who look vaguely familiar.

You aren't missing anything. The most famous comedian on that list used to be hilarious - then he lost it, and now only a certain subsection of the population finds him funny, but his Killing Them Softly set is probably in contention for best ever. :-)

Two of the most annoying comedians, ever. Although, I do recall one joke that Carr told - it wasn't his, and I cannot utter it on this platform as it is the most offensive joke he knew (at that time) - I will admit, the joke was very funny, which is how you know that Carr didn't write it, lol.
