Yeah, I was wondering if these were the recordings Don referred to as favorites.

No, I was referring to the RCA recordings.

Can you just crawl back to whatever hole you came out of? No one wants you here.

I certainly don't have a problem with Josquin being here and would appreciate that Bonehelm simply speak for himself.

Who is that - it looks like Hofman?
Yes sir. Vol.1 from The Complete Hofmann series.

This thread could need some update ...

Recommendations on top of my head would be

Cto 1: Yundi Li (he has developed a much freer style in recent years, different from his robotic beginnings), supplemented with some vintage: Rubinstein/Barbirolli (1937) and Rosenthal/Weismann (1931; VERY vintage).

Cto 2: Pogorelich, Abbado, plus two historical ones: Rubinstein/Barbirolli (1935), Cortot/Mengelberg (1944), and perhaps the more sketchy Hofmann (1938).

There is also a Cortot/Barbirolli in Cto 2 (1935) which has quite good sound for its age, but the interpretation is not that special, to my ears.

This is based on having

It´s been a while since I heard the lot though, and there might be some revision now. But my impression was that the Argerich DG and EMI recordings perhaps-perhaps weren´t among her most spectacular.

Listened this recording once, sounded very nice.

This is my favourite and it's also available on CD though somewhat hard to find.
Cheers

Herman

Krystian Zimerman (both recordings); young Kissin; Rubinstein.

I have to admit, though, that years can pass without my listening to these concertos.

Oldnslow

Zacharias with his Prague Chamber Orchestra on MD & G is my favorite modern recording of both concertos on one CD. The Pollini/Kletzki on EMI is my choice for overall best for the first concerto

Orpheus

Not mentioned, but one of my favourites... :)
