Thanks :) The sound of the Kubelik was less of a problem than I remembered, I guess I'm getting more tolerant.

The linked one sounds better recorded, the beginning in the Kubelik sounds less closely miced, and the cymbals are much better picked up on yours and the overall sound seems fuller. It has the same kind of scampering and fun interpretation, though. Who is it?

The new erato

Obrecht:Missa Suub tuum praesidium on ASV Gadeamus
Myaskosky/Wainberg Violin concertoes on Naxos
Myaskovsly Symphony nr 6 with Jarvi/Gothenburg on DG

And I've just ordered the complete Alfven symphonies on BIS from Europadisc who have them ridicolously cheap.

Thanks :) It seems to be available cheaply from MDT. Very surprised at its date - I'm certain that the Kubelik (currently on DG Trio) is later, but seems less balanced.

This forum is very strange. I went from passively commenting on a piece, to re-listening to my recording of it, to deciding to buy a further recording of it within 1 hour...

BRAHMS: 21 Hungarian Dances   / Duo Crommelynck  (CLAVES)

We can only appreciate the rich and subtle rhythm of this works in the original version for piano 4 hands.

This version, with the tragic duo Crommelynck is very well balanced, with a remarkable cohesion, but with a poor enthusiasm. This music must be played with more freedom and a great rhythmic fantasy.
