Thanks again for your compassionate thoughts, guys.  As if Alice's condition weren't shocking enough, we learned this morning that another friend, who retired last year and built his "dream" retirement home in Utah, was also just diagnosed with advanced, inoperable cancer.

Each day is a gift of grace. Too often we take life for granted and forget to be grateful for the opportunity to learn, love, and grow.

Now playing Podger's Bach concertos album.

Lately I've been listening to DSCH's chamber output much more than his orchestral, with this here #8, along with SQ#15, Piano Trio #2, Viola Sonata and 24 Preludes and Fugues I could almost comfortably say it's a better output.

I think that's largely fair, with no disappointment in the orchestral music.

Oh, of course. In fact, he's touched successfully on just about every genre.

Well, one or two of the symphonies are something of a disappointment, where the complete cycle of quartets, and the Op.87 (e.g.) are thoroughly top-shelf.

If only all of DSCH's symphonies were as good as #15  ;)
