No, Suisse Romande.

Ooo, I forgot Stein succeeded Ansermet as the director of the OSR.  Hmmm, maybe I need that recording, just to hear the brass of the OSR try to play the opening of that piece.  : )

Ooh. For some reason I thought that was a label purely for contemporary music. How is the performance?

Lord knows I shan't need 19 cycles, but I've some friends who do. Or who need more, still.

Yeah, 19 is just not enough. ;) That said, I'm still missing four cycles: Berglund (Bournemouth, Chamber Orchestra of Europe), Saraste, and Abravanel.

Now:

It's been quite awhile since I've listened to any of Sakari's Sibelius. Listening to Lemminkäinen Suite. A great performance.

Ashkenazy, eh? Haven't heard his recordings.

He recorded the 6th, the 7th and the 8th Piano Sonata; his performances are awesome, I think it's hard to find a better interpreter of Russian music than Vladimir Ashkenazy. :)
Here's the third movement of No.8

I don't need 19 either. 18 is more than adequate  ;D

: )

Anyway, I should have a care that I don't lob any stones at my own glass windows . . . I remember the day I was at Borders and bought the Maazel/Weiner Philharmoniker set.  I had never have thought, that day, that at any time I should own seven complete symphony cycles, as I do to-day . . . .

Ha! Out of curosity, what Sibelius cycles do you own, Karl?

I'll listen to them from Spotify now. The beginning of the 6th sounds promising, (although) there's quite a lot of pedal at times.

Good; please, let me know what you think about Ashkenazy's performance once you've listened to them. :)

Nice list, Karl. I need to give Maazel's cycle more of a fair shake. The Pittsburgh cycle did little for me. I thought the Vienna was much better, but the audio quality wasn't quite up to par with what I'm used to hearing in Decca recordings. You don't own any of Davis' cycles. Hmmm...that's interesting. Not a fan? I'm coming back around to ol' C. Davis. I listened to a performance from his LSO Live cycle last night (Symphonies 1 & 4) and I really enjoyed it. I suppose I will be giving his LSO Live cycle another listen quite soon.
