Ah!  :)  For a minute, I thought it meant either "For the World" or "F&$k the World"   ;D

Haha! I guess it could mean those in different circumstances.

Like the second Symphony, the third is also in a minor key, in C. This opus number 44, is just slightly less bleak. Especially the first, and last two movements leaves no doubt about the heritage. It goes on in the same vein. The second movement gives some reprieve from the onslaught, but a fact is that Prokofiev was not in a sunny mood when writing these works. But then this could be his normal framework. Anyway, the performance is technically superb as is the recording. I am friends with Kitajenko's interpretations, but I will never be a close friend. He keeps me emotionally away from the music, and allows me only a technical scrutiny, but I find no entrance towards what I should feel, when hearing other interpretations. And again the sound is top notch.

Tenor: Salvatore Fisichella

Despite the key, this is one of the most joyous and uplifting masses I've ever heard.
Hey, it's on Naxos Music Library. I think I'll give it a listen!

The new erato

I think I respect this music more than I actually like it, but it is growing on me over the years:

Same here, erato. I have grown to enjoy the music, but I certainly don't love it.

Listening to Fountains Of Rome. This is really a great recording of Respighi's Roman Trilogy. Anybody else familiar with this one? Powerful performances.

Really enjoyed listening to some of them on the bus ride back home this evening. Andsnes was the pianist.

Listen to Piano Concerto. Gershwin is a composer I never listen to much, but never could figure out why this is the case. Great music and performances from Kempf/Litton.

Hi Navneeth - have not heard Andsnes in these works, but own his recording of the Grieg/Schumann Piano Concertos; BTW, I believe he plays on Grieg's piano in the Lyric Pieces?  Dave :)

The new erato

A fine collection, well recorded, but however much I like Maltman in German repertoire he doesn't seem exactly right in French repertoire (there's something to Bernac and Souzay in this repertoire that I don't quite find here):

What I have is recorded on a modern piano, Dave. It's part of this set, which also includes a few more miniatures not mentioned on the cover:

I haven't come across a recording with Andsnes playing a period piano. There seem to plenty of iterations of these recordings available (not surprising -- it's EMI!). Do you have a link?

Listening to Reger's Piano Concerto. A great work performed amazingly well by Michael Korstick. Such a gifted pianist.
