Chloe Hanslip looks and plays like someone considerably older than 20 years old - but 20 she is!
I'd like to hear her in more "standard" repertoire; she does a heroic job selling the now-forgotten Godard.
But on an unhappy note, why has Naxos returned to the Kosice orchestra? I thought they had moved on from the Slovak bands.

Have you heard her Bruch VC with the LSO? It's outstanding. If you like this one you should get a hold of her Bruch. And she was even younger then.

Stars of the Lid: And Their Refinement of the Decline

More ambient stuff-- a guitar duo (though I rarely can recognise the guitars as guitars!), augmented by strings, brass, woodwinds.  Even better than their Tired Sounds... album.  Very lonely, lovely music...

Hi Eph, we actually have a separate thread for this type of listening. :)

Haven't heard it yet - thanks for the tip  :)

I think there's a bit of blurring between Steve Reich/Philip Glass/Pauline Oliveros/Stuart Dempster to Brian Eno/Jon Hassell type areas-- that's the only reason I posted that here (if it were Boards of Canada or Autechre that would've been a different story...).  0:)

It's no problem, I was just pointing you to the thread in case it had escaped your attention.

(On a semi-related note, I've been pumping Aphex Twin a lot in the car these days. :))

Corey, have you heard this by Alarm Will Sound?  (Or have we discussed already?)

Yes, I've heard the album, but I must admit I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish.

Goodness I love this music! This is going to the top of my listening list. :)  Kind of odd that the last two notes on the disc have so much more reverb than the rest of it - fake? Norbert Kraft's usually such a magnificent recording engineer.

You did not say anything about the performance Brain.
Its waiting for me to play, but would love to hear your opinion.

Luigi Boccherini.
Six Sonatas in three parts (1781)
Galimathias Musicum, on period instruments.
Recorded by Tactus 1991.

The second cd in this box, and every bit as enjoyable as the first. It is well played and recorded, and a joy to hear these Sonatas in such good presentation. again a totally unknown ensemble from Italy. They seem to have a unending supply of good period musicians.
