I was planning to listen to Rasumovsky No.3 before going to sleep. Scratch that. It's going to be Brahms Op.38 now. :)

I noticed the fugue in the opening of the third movement for the first time.  0:)

I am nigh-certain the alignment of post-count and content was deliberate. ;D Congratulations, and congratulations on the piece, if it delivers on the promise of an early sample I'd, for lack of a better word, sampled at some earlier point. :)

Also congratulations on 3000, Johan. Quick, edit in some Brian! ;)

A disc I've grown particularly fond of.

Mark, what a beautiful album cover! Would you be so kind as to turn it over to find out what painting this is?  :D

Sorry - no can do. :(

I got the release as a download, so no liner notes.

Now pop over to eMusic and grab yourself Robert Plane's rendition on Naxos. Actually, download the whole of that CD - it's a stunner. ;)

This looks fascinating, and I have other discs by all of these musicians, all very fine.  Love the cover, too.

I've been informed that the design the foot is stepping on is a kolam. However, its connection to the music is arcanely tenuous, if not entirely impertinent.

Thanks, I was just considering doing that. :)  I'm also considering downloading Yo Yo Ma's recording of Finzi's Cello Concerto from the same disc as John Denman's recording of Finzi's Clarinet Concerto (pictured below).

Thanks, I'd seen that design elsewhere but had never had it identified.  I like its intent: "...a daily tribute to harmonious co-existence."

Congratulations to both~!! Though for a real Anabasis one needs Ten Thousand, of course, preferably hoplites of all kinds. Is Karl the only one to join Harry in this XTTC (Xenophon's Ten Thousand Club), so far?
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

But if we measure his posts by amount of content, his count is actually below Iago.  ;D

Clementi, Muzio (1752-1832) - Piano Sonatas, Vol. 1 w/ Howard Shelley on a Hyperion 2-CD set; Volume 2 to be released later this year w/ a total of 6 'double CDs' packages planned in toto - Shelley is certainly prolific!  This set was his 100th recording release - check HERE for a description of the works included and comments on his performance!  :)

I cringe at my theoretical count then: what with my usual verbosity, I'd be in the tonnes! :o ;)

Some forums have a karma points system where you add and subtract points on individual posts, creating point tallies for each poster which express their general usefulness.

However, certain members of this forum might not be able to practice that system responsibly.

I haven't been this excited for a new release in a while, and my excitement is fully justified. So far this album is awesome!
