Very nice, Bruce!  Whenever I hear Messiaen's music live, he is my favorite composer.

I can well identify.  A good Messiaen performance can leave you breathless.  (Although as a PS, this past weekend I watched the 4-1/2-hour DVD of Saint François d'Assise, and although I absolutely loved maybe,  85% of it, to my ears it needed to be cut some.)

But on the whole, such a stunning body of work!

Thinking out aloud: Hm, there might be something to this after all. No mosquitoes or bees, this actually does sound like music, while sampling Bartok's 6th quartet. I'll need to check if this from his early part of his career.

Afterthought: Sampling just the first half a minute or so of each track, they sound awfully alike.

The more you listen to Bartok's quartets, the more it does sound like music!  :)  Keep listening, I can almost guarantee they will grow on you.  0:)

I guess I'm just desperate to try something new. Right now I don't feel like listening to anything, unless it's downright new AND sorrowful.  :-\
