Could well be - you have a sharp eye! :)

Better visible on this photo - with the shutters closed

Ah, thanks. :) I didn't realise they were shutters -- it blends well with the rest of structure. And so ornately decorated.

Stunning sound and pianism. It's nice to hear the Op. 3 prelude in it's original context. It's a shame that those other works in Op. 3 get neglected. A few of them are far better than the Prelude.  :-\

I never realised there was more to Op. 3 (even with the No. 2 clearly indicating that it's part of a set). :-[ Would surely love to hear what accompanies that wonderful C-sharp minor prelude.

Just a thought:

Can enjoyment be mandatory?  0:)

Yes, if beauty really exists.

On Sunday I am more Platonist than usual.  :D

I am still debating if I should bother with this set since I already have Goldberg Variations and Partitas, 3 out of the 5 CD's.  The set is available at MDT for about $16.

Shostakovich: Symphony No. 10 (Yuri Temirkanov/Verbier Festival Orchestra, taped live July 23, 2009, available on www.medici.tv) - So far enjoying this immensely!  Temirkanov is coaxing a very focused, exciting performance from the musicians.

Again, this quite engrossing Shostakovich performance.  The short, virtuosic Allegro is one of my favorite things in music, period.

Doesn't that portrait on the CD cover look a little like Abe Lincoln without the beard?

Hi, Que.

It's a nice set indeed.

I bought that box, although I had more than half of those recordings.

AFAIK, that "Renaissance and Baroque Organs" disc is a part of a larger SEON collection of double-CDs, devoted to organs in North-Italy, the Alps, Austria.

As you are a French baroque fan, I would recommend you to listen to the disc titled "Musik in Versailles": a winner! What a wonderful, incredible sound for a disc recorded in 1970! (my previous version was remastered using 96 KHz/24 bit technology, I don't know if it's the same disc included in the box set).

Just delightful Trio's from these highly talented women  :)
