Is it really necessary to take up so much space in one post?

"Orpheus", we are not only Russians on this board, but use the English language as a communication tool, so please which composer is this again?

You see, that's why you should major in physics (or mathematics). ;D

Johann Ludwig Krebs (1731-1780):
Toccata & Fuga in A minor, the very Bach-esque start of this one:

Many reminders of BWV 540 (F Major Toccata), but Krebs (pupil of JSB) certainly was a gifted man himself!

But a Mahlerian who hasn't been listening to good old Gustav for ages .... :-[
Well, winter is on its way, so who knows .... maybe I will salute the first snowfall with No. 7. The tenor horn intro: hier röhrt die Natur. Not necessarily Bertini though, there are more goodies in that one. Maybe the Haitink Christmas Matinee will do the best (the sound of the brass in those recordings .... :-*).

It is a very beautiful set, with superb sound and plenty to talk about.
After a LOT of recent Mahler listening (including Bertini) I decided that Inbals's 80's recordings are my flavour of the month instead.  Inbal brings something like a narrative feel to the Symphonies (which he plays expansively) - there is always a sense that a story is being told, and Inbal keeps us hanging on to hear it.  I listened to them last week for the first time in many years, and was fair taken by them!  However, I am not listening to them now.

Ancerl

What a conductor!  How he takes posession of the music with a firm artistic grasp!

Thank you Harry my old mentor!  Nice to be back indeed.

Now throroughly engrossed in:

That is to say, engrossed, but not in a good way, more in finding something else to put on... :-[

Some members combinations are indeed surprising. ;)

How would you f.i. describe Harry´s combination, - or JdP´s?
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.
