Bogey, is that Schroeder-quote from a real Peanuts cartoon--and if so, do you know/have the whole one?? Or is it just filled in for (and from) geeks like us?

There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

I have some Hummel that I have had on my wish-list for two or three years.....this post is not helping, Dave. ;D

Hello Bill - excellent set! Also favorites of Don & Gabriel, so plenty of positive recommendations - on a modern piano, if that makes a difference to you?  Dave  :D

I tend to believe that Digital concerto (of which I never have heard) is a bargain label run by the same person(s) as Pilz et.c. and that all their Jaccottet releases are the Intercord recordings.

I believe you are probably right. I found HERE the complete list of Jaccottet's works on the Bach-Cantatas site and it is, at least, completely illogical.

Antoine - I've been contemplating that set - Don & I had a few post exchanges, and he had done an extensive review of many recordings of the English Suites on the 'Bach Cantata Site'; I've added the Musica Omnia release to an Amazon list, but have not 'pulled the trigger' yet - so what do you think of Watchorn in these works?  Dave  :)

What is turning out to be a day of Schubert.  More from the vinyl vault:

I have the highest esteem for Peter Watchorn as a harpsichordist and Bachian scholar. I think he plays in the major leagues together with the big names. However, IMO, his English Suites are not his more immediately compelling performances: are excellent, a first-rate option in any case, but not the top of his artistry. All this IMHO.

Could I, dear Dave, give you a friendly recommendation that you have not requested? If I were you, I would buy now, tonight if it is possible, that Amado "Bach Premium Edition" (Cascade) that includes the excellent English Suites performed by Christiane Jaccottet and not just that, but the WTC, the French Suites, etc. by her. 13 marvelous discs of Bach's keyboard solo music! at EUR 19,67 on Amazon France. Please check out the current prices on Amazon USA. Here the link for Amazon France: http://www.amazon.fr/Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Premium-Box/dp/B000IFRXV6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1272148086&sr=8-1. BTW, the sh. & h. charges from Amazon France are totally reasonable.  :)

Antoine - thanks for your considered opinion - now I just wanted the English Suites on harpsichord - already am happy w/ what I own for the other recordings on that larger set - looked for Jaccottet on a 2CD package of those recordings (shown below on Amazon USA) - asking price is $64+ for a 'used' set - I guess that I could pursue a 'download' option?  Will keep open to further recommendations - again, thanks  - Dave  :)

Myslivecek, Josef (1737-1781) - Violin Concertos - shown below; wonderful compositions and performances - for those interested, there is a thread on this composer - currently reading a recent bio on him -  :D

OK, no problem, Dave. BTW, those English Suites on Amazon USA are exactly the same included in the Amado box set.

No, that was Seth Winner I believe. These are a bit quieter, as MOT transfers usually are.
