The heart-breakingly beautiful andante espressivo from Saint-Saens' Second Violin Concerto. Graffin/Brabbins/BBC Scottish SO on Hyperion.

And still more from Verbier:

Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5 (Pletnev/Verbier Festival Orchestra) - Again, beautifully filmed, and a stirring performance.

And:

Shchedrin: Concerto for Orchestra No. 1 (same as above)

Orpheus
I think that'll have to go on later today here: a tremendous and underrated work.

I'm listening to some earlier Stravinsky, straight from the Monteux baton:

"I don't at all mind actively disliking a piece of contemporary music, but in order to feel happy about it I must consciously understand why I dislike it. Otherwise it remains in my mind as unfinished business."
-- Aaron Copland, The Pleasures of Music

Schubert, Piano Trios op. 99 & 100 (BAT)  0:)

IMO, one of the most impressive things Robert Craft has ever done....

The recording that finally made Apollo click with me (and the Agon and Orpheus are pretty good too).

I have this, however it hasn't "clicked" yet, unfortunately.

Bernstein: "Mambo" from West Side Story (Dudamel / Simon Bolivar) - The encore at the orchestra's Proms appearance, and pretty fantastic.

One of my favorites. What is the best performance you know? I was attracted by the Curzon on Decca Legends.
