Some new arrivals featuring the Baryton:

Lidl, Andreas - Divertimenti - Baryton Trios w/ the Esterhazy Trio (same group who put together the BIG BOX of Haydn's baryton works)!

Haydn, Joseph - Divertimenti - Baryton Trios w/ the performers on the cover art; of course, all of these are in the BIG BOX mentioned above, but if you want just 1 disc of these works, this one is excellent - :)

CD III from this set, most rewarding in many ways!

Indeed a delightful and hugely rewarding set, Harry! :)

One of the most important musical (pleasant) surprises of the year.

Disc 3 with the 2nd volume of published suites, from 1733. These suites actually more or less predate the ones in the volume from 1720, which had been reworked by the composer in view of the (official) publication.

Florestan

When I want to feel like "God's in His Heaven, all's right with the world" I always resort to JS Bach. I know of no other composer who can convey such powerful and immediate feelings of calm serenity, of tranquil joy and of unshakable inner peace. That such sentiments can be aroused by music which is as intellectualist, abstract and mathematical as Musikalisches Opfer is a testimony to the man's true genius. But no less geniuses, mutatis mutandis, are Jordi Savall and his team who has judged extremely well the instrumentation and tempi, resulting in a marvelous performance. As always with Alia Vox, sonics are impeccable. A magical disc.

Good morning my friends, and some Christmas cheer for ya all ;D

A two far that makes me very happy must be the complete Harpsichord Concerti from Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. Certainly if you get such outstanding performances and good sonics. The Harpsichords used sound deliciously! This second CD has Marco Facchin on the Harpsichord.

Beautiful description.
Bach is my comfort, too.

Bach by Savall is still rather unknown territory for me, except for his disc with Ton Koopman.
BWV 1079 is now on the wish-list.

The second CD of these wonderful melodious concerti by Francesco Durante.

No 6-8.
Harpsichord concert in B flat major.

Gerald Hambitzer, Harpsichord in the B flat major concerto. There is no info in the booklet which instrument. The recordings sounds well, and the performance is near perfect.
